Hovertrax – The Hoverboard

The Hovertrax (publicly known as the Hoverboard) was invented by Shane Chen in 2011 with patents filed in 2012. It was put on Kickstarter in 2013 and was copied a year later. The number of illegal copiers reached over 600 by the end of 2015. These were made with low quality parts which often caused fires and falling. At that time Shane exclusively licensed his patents to Razor USA, a US scooter company. Still, most of the hoverboards in the market are copies.

Shane has now come up with a new concept for the Hovertrax! It’s operated in the same way as the original one but it’s much more stable and fun. You can stand on it comfortably even when the power is turned off. The new Hovertrax can go over small cracks and bumps which would have caused instability with the older version.
